Dock to Dish: A Seafood Blog.
Abundant year round throughout Alaska, the coveted king salmon (
Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) is the largest of the five species of wild Pacific
salmon. Also known as Chinook, king salmon is highly sought after for its rich taste, and high amounts of heart healthy Omega-3 oils. The large size of
king salmon fillets also makes it desirable for sushi chefs around the world.
Fishery management is especially important for salmon as these fish require freshwater and ocean habitats to survive. Wild-caught salmon from Alaska is
considered a "Best Choice" and the majority is certified as sustainable to the standard of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). This king salmon was
troll-caught in Ketchikan, AK by Captain Cody Cowan on the F/V Megan. There is little or no bycatch when salmon is caught with troll gear, which makes this
salmon an equally tasty and responsible choice for your table. Enjoy this salmon as sushi / sashimi, as well as pan seared, baked, broiled or grilled.
Available in 1 lb fillets. To inquire on purchasing a whole king salmon, please call 619-704-3639.
